The First Descendant Freyna rework arrived with Update 1.4.5 on October 15, 2026. Her main Toxic damage coefficients rose by 60%, all her skills now gain damage from Max MP up to +200%, and Skill 4, Venom Baptism, lost its timer, so it lasts until your magazine is empty. Her Synchronization Value also dropped from 1.752 to 1.602, which means old build guides no longer match her numbers. Nexon has not published an official best build, so this guide explains each change and how the pieces fit.
Summary: The First Descendant Freyna Rework
- Release: October 15, 2026, with Update 1.4.5 on Steam, PS5 and Xbox.
- Damage: most Toxic coefficients rose exactly 60%, and DoT durations of 4 seconds became 8 seconds.
- Scaling: all damage gains Max MP x 30.8%, capped at +200%, and Nexon says the cap is reached at 645 MP.
- Skill 4: Venom Baptism has no duration. You fire until the magazine hits zero.
- Trigger Module: Prepping in the Dark cuts Skill 4’s cooldown and boosts Toxic Skill Power.
- Necrosis: Toxic Mixture now caps Necrosis at 50 stacks and gives 1.5% Skill Power per stack.
- Caveat: Nexon has not named an official best build, and no one has tested the live numbers at scale.
What Changed in the Freyna Rework
Freyna and Ultimate Freyna share most of this rework. Nexon’s October Developer Note lists four headline changes: Skill 2 grants Concealment immediately and creates a Catalyst Zone, Skill 4 loses its duration, all skills gain damage that scales with MP, and the Synchronization Value drops slightly. The developer note adds that some preview details could change at release, so the final patch notes are the source here. You can read them in the official Update 1.4.5 patch notes too.
The base skill numbers show the size of the change.
| Skill or effect | Before | After |
|---|---|---|
| Contagion Links, Toxic Puddle damage over time | Skill Power x 240.6% | Skill Power x 385.0% |
| Contagion Links, Toxic Reaction duration | 4 s | 8 s |
| Venom Trauma projectile damage | Skill Power x 862.3% | Skill Power x 1,379.7% |
| Putrid Venom, Toxic Swamp damage over time | Skill Power x 242.9% | Skill Power x 388.5% |
| Room 0 Trauma damage over time | Skill Power x 225.8% | Skill Power x 361.3% |
| Defense Mechanism | Standard skill | Toxic Trigger with Active Camouflage and Catalyst Zone |
The pattern is consistent. Nearly every Toxic coefficient is multiplied by 1.6, and each damage-over-time status that lasted 4 seconds now lasts 8. Therefore, Freyna’s damage now depends more on keeping several effects running than on a single burst.
Skill Power Scaling: Max MP and Synchronization Value

Two stat changes pull in opposite directions. First, Nexon added a common bonus: damage increases by Max MP x 30.8%, with a maximum of +200%. The developer note says the maximum applies at 645 MP. Our arithmetic suggests each point of Max MP adds about 0.31 percentage points, since 645 x 0.308 comes to roughly 199%, but that is our reading, not an official statement.
Second, the Synchronization Value fell from 1.752 to 1.602, a drop of about 8.6%. Nexon says this accounts for the higher skill power coefficients and the higher base power overall. The studio does not publish how the Synchronization Value combines with the new coefficients, so do not multiply them yourself and trust the result. Test the live numbers in a Sigma Sector or Void Intercept run instead.
In practice, the 645 MP threshold gives you a target. Once you pass it, extra Max MP stops adding damage, so invest those slots in Skill Power, cooldown or survivability. One module follows a different rule: Venom Injection scales with Max Shield x 0.33%, also capped at +200%. That implies a threshold of about 606 Max Shield by the same arithmetic.
Skill 4 Magazine Change
Venom Baptism is Skill 4, and its timer is gone. The patch notes say the duration is removed, and the developer note adds that you can use it flexibly until the magazine hits zero. Equipping a Unique Weapon also reduces Grappling Hook charge time by 46%.
This changes how the skill works. Before the patch, you had to empty the magazine within the skill’s window. Now the magazine itself is the limit. Pre-patch guides from Game8 and Alcast say Venom Baptism takes Rounds per Magazine and Fire Rate into account, so those stats may matter even more now. Treat that as a reasonable but unconfirmed reading of the new rule.
Venom Baptism’s damage over time also got the 60% boost, as Nightmare damage rose from Skill Power x 209.5% to 335.2%, and its duration doubled to 8 seconds. For another build-focused read on a looter shooter, see our Destiny 2 Warlock builds guide.
Prepping in the Dark Trigger Module
Prepping in the Dark is the new Trigger Module, and it was designed around Freyna’s rework. The effect works in two steps:
- Using a Ground DoT skill to damage an enemy grants you Gap.
- While Gap is active, using a Concealment skill grants Ambush Setup.
Ambush Setup lowers Skill 4’s cooldown and raises Toxic Skill Power for its duration. Nexon’s developer note says the module pairs well with Neurotoxin Synthesis. Nexon does not list which skills count as Ground DoT, but skills that leave puddles or swamps appear to fit that description, so test the trigger in your own build.
You can farm it in several places, and Nexon raised the odds.
| Source | Before | After |
|---|---|---|
| Cradle of Evolution (Trigger Module Loot L) | 8.6% | 11.5% |
| Karel’s Mothership, Normal | 36.4% | 48.5% |
| Karel’s Mothership, Hard | 48.5% | 64.7% |
The module also joins the Axion Plains Wall Crasher rewards, where the guaranteed pool grows from 5 of 41 types to 5 of 42. Trigger Module Selection Box J now contains it too. Players who already progressed the Unique Arche Factor Level 10 mission and the Trigger Module Unlock mission will see those event missions complete automatically.
Neurotoxin Synthesis: Venom Veil, Toxic Offensive and Hypersensitivity
Nexon calls Neurotoxin Synthesis the module with the most changes. It turns Freyna into a hybrid of skills and her Unique Weapon.
- Venom Veil: replaces Venom Trauma. The skill sprays poison that pushes enemies back, deals Skill Power x 731.2% and leaves Toxic Haze, which grants Active Camouflage with +20% move speed inside it.
- Toxic Offensive: replaces the basic Toxic Trigger. It grants a Catalyst Zone with a 90% conversion rate, a 2-second immunity window and +80% DEF, but no personal camouflage.
- Deterioration: Putrid Venom now inflicts it. Unique Weapon hits on a Deterioration target add Skill Power x 419.0% damage, and the target moves 25% slower. Killing one stops Unique Weapon round consumption for 3 seconds.
- Hypersensitivity: it can spread to nearby enemies, including normal soldiers and elites, with a 0.54-second cooldown and up to 6 targets.
- Venom Baptism: killing a Hypersensitive enemy with the Unique Weapon scatters 3 to 5 Decay Fragments that create Toxic Puddles. Unique Weapon attacks no longer inflict Room 0 Trauma.
The Nightmare damage over time in this version reaches Skill Power x 1,564.8%. Nexon says the module makes area clearing practical through the Unique Weapon, which fits the Deterioration and fragment mechanics.
Toxic Mixture: 50 Necrosis Stacks and Skill Power
Toxic Mixture changed from a firearm module into a pure skill damage module. The Necrosis stack cap fell from 100 to 50, and each stack now gives 1.5% Skill Power instead of Firearm ATK. At the full 50 stacks, that adds up to 75% Skill Power, by our arithmetic. The old bonus that triggered at max stacks is gone, and Contagion Links gains a 15% Skill Critical Hit Rate increase.
Two skills changed shape:
- Toxic Needle Surge: replaces Venom Trauma and fires 5 needles at Skill Power x 388.5% each. It removes up to 10 Necrosis stacks from the target and deals Skill Power x 1,251.0% for the stacks removed.
- Toxic Trigger: this version removes Necrosis instead of granting a plain buff. Its Catalyst Zone removes 1 stack per second from enemies in range for Skill Power x 1,251.0%, with +80% DEF.
Because the stack cap is lower, you reach the bonus faster, but you also spend stacks through Needle Surge. Nexon describes the module as a pure skill damage dealer that builds damage through Necrosis stacks.
Venom Injection, Toxic Stimulation and Venom Synthesis
The other three Transcendent Modules got smaller but useful changes.
- Venom Injection: damage now scales with Max Shield instead of Max MP, at 0.33% per point and a cap of +200%.
- Toxic Stimulation: using Skill 2 grants Active Camouflage and the Catalyst Zone to you and to your allies. Nexon describes it as turning allies into mobile turrets that amplify Room 0 Trauma. The Catalyst Zone converts 80% of remaining damage over time.
- Venom Synthesis: it keeps the Max MP bonus and gets the same 60% damage over time increase, with 8-second Despair and Decay effects.
Which Module Fits Which Playstyle?
Nexon has not ranked these modules, so the table below is our reasoning from the notes.
| Goal | Module to consider | Why it fits |
|---|---|---|
| Area clearing with the Unique Weapon | Neurotoxin Synthesis with Prepping in the Dark | Deterioration, Hypersensitivity and Decay Fragments target groups, and Nexon recommends the pairing |
| Single-target skill damage | Toxic Mixture | Necrosis stacks and Toxic Needle Surge focus on one target |
| Shield-based builds | Venom Injection | Max Shield scales damage up to +200% |
| Team support | Toxic Stimulation | Allies share Catalyst Zone and camouflage |
As of the latest update, no community consensus exists yet, because the patch is only hours old. Check the in-game tooltips against these numbers, since Nexon edited the notes after launch.
How to Get What You Need Right Now
Ultimate Freyna parts rotate through HQ Special Orders. The first window, October 21 to 23, offers Ultimate Freyna Code, Enhanced Cells, Stabilizer or Spiral Catalyst for completing four Infiltration Operations. The Descendant Overhaul Mission also gives extra rewards for completing missions with Freyna, Gley or Enzo, and it runs until November 16 at 22:59 PST.
Nexon ran maintenance from October 14 at 10:00 PM PDT to October 15 at 8:00 AM PDT. That is 1:00 AM to 11:00 AM Eastern on October 15.
Common Mistakes and Clarifications
- Using pre-patch builds. Necrosis, Max MP and Skill 4 all work differently now.
- Chasing Max MP past 645. The bonus stops there.
- Multiplying the Synchronization Value by the new coefficients. Nexon does not publish the formula.
- Expecting Toxic Mixture to boost your gun. It now boosts skills only.
- Assuming the 22.5 m style preview numbers are final. The developer note warned that some details may change, so use the patch notes.
Conclusion
The First Descendant Freyna rework makes her a longer-lasting damage-over-time Descendant, with Max MP scaling, a timer-free Skill 4 and a Trigger Module built for her. Pick Neurotoxin Synthesis for the Unique Weapon, Toxic Mixture for pure skill damage, or Venom Injection for shields. Test your numbers in the live game before you commit resources.
