Apex Legends Executioner Hop-Up Guns Stats & How It Works

The Apex Legends Executioner hop-up is a locked shotgun attachment that grants 50 shield regeneration over 5 seconds each time you knock an enemy with the weapon. It launched on June 23, 2026 for the Peacekeeper and Mastiff, and Season 31 (Cipher) added it to the Care Package Akimbo Mozambique, where the patch notes list a heal of 15 shields per second.

How the Executioner hop-up works

A cinematic Apex Legends thumbnail featuring an armed Legend holding a shotgun alongside the glowing Executioner Hop-Up emblem. It highlights the 50 shields regenerated over 5 seconds after a knock, compatible weapons including the Peacekeeper, Mastiff, and Care Package Akimbo Mozambique, and key details such as its release date and 375-point unlock cost.

EA’s Overclocked midseason patch notes list the Executioner as a locked hop-up available on the Peacekeeper and Mastiff. Knocking an enemy with the weapon grants 50 shield regeneration over 5 seconds, and the hop-up costs 375 points to unlock.

Two details matter in practice:

  • It triggers on a knock, not a kill. The effect starts when you down an enemy, so it fits the moment right after you win a close-range fight.
  • It stacks. Respawn’s designer notes compare it to the Skirmisher Knock Expert perk and confirm that multiple procs stack. Knocking several enemies in a row should therefore stack the regeneration.

The numbers have a history worth knowing. The Overclocked patch notes at first described the regeneration as taking 10 seconds. A Respawn update on June 23 corrected it to 5 seconds, which is a big difference if you read an early guide and wrote the hop-up off.

Why Respawn added it

The designer notes explain the thinking. Respawn’s data showed that, on average, shotguns are the weapons players die while holding most. The team’s hypothesis was that finisher shotguns like the Peacekeeper and Mastiff do secure knocks, but the close-range fights where they shine leave players on very low health, and an enemy teammate quickly avenges the knock.

Instead of raising raw damage, Respawn chose a survivability hop-up. It is meant to give shotgun users enough of a cushion after a knock to stay in the fight.

Which guns use the Executioner hop-up

WeaponSinceNotes
PeacekeeperSeason 29 Split 2 (June 23, 2026)Replaced Disruptor Rounds
MastiffSeason 29 Split 2 (June 23, 2026)Replaced Dual Shell
Care Package Akimbo MozambiqueSeason 31 (Nov 3, 2026)Patch notes list 15 shields healed per second

The Season 31 patch notes show the Mozambique moving into the Care Package with its Executioner hop-up added and its Redline hop-up removed. They list a stockpile of 80 shells (40 per gun), or 110 in Wildcard. The notes don’t say how long the 15 per second lasts or whether it is triggered the same way as the Peacekeeper and Mastiff version, so we can’t compare the two directly.

Peacekeeper and Mastiff: getting value from it

The notes don’t give strategy, so this section is analysis based on how the hop-up works rather than tested results.

  • Use it to follow up. After a knock, the 5-second window lets you press the fight or retreat to cover while shields come back. It is least useful if you swap off the shotgun after the knock, because the hop-up only triggers when you knock with the weapon itself.
  • The Peacekeeper got a separate buff in Season 31. Its rate of fire increased, and Shotgun Bolts now improve both its rechamber rate and rate of fire. That makes it a stronger host for the hop-up than it was in the summer.
  • It rewards winning, not surviving. The shields arrive only if you secure the knock first. If you lose the exchange, it does nothing.

There is no published win-rate or pick-rate data tying the hop-up to better results, so any claim that it is a must-pick is opinion.

What we couldn’t verify

One tier-list site says the unlock cost for the Peacekeeper and Mastiff dropped from 375 to 275 points in Season 31. EA’s Cipher patch notes don’t list that change, so 375 remains the last officially confirmed figure. Check the in-game unlock meter to be sure.
