Lagos Life: The Free Browser Game Explained, How to Play, Jobs, Map and Safety

Lagos Life is a free, Sims-style browser game set in a virtual version of Lagos, Nigeria. It launched on October 1, 2026, and you play it at lagoslife.app with no download. You sign up, roll a Nepo Baby or LAPO Baby start, get a job from your in-game phone, and pay rent every Saturday. The game is only days old and changing fast, so treat any pay or price figure as a snapshot.

What Lagos Life Is

Lagos Life is a shared life simulation. You create a character, work jobs, pay rent, and meet other players in the same virtual city. Based on current information, it was built by Shalom Mathew, a UK-based Nigerian developer who is also credited as Shalom Rayhamen in some coverage.

The idea came from Lagos Run, another Nigerian browser game where you drive a danfo (the yellow minibus) through traffic. It also draws on The Sims 3.

It spread quickly. According to the game’s own dashboard, it had passed 1.2 million total players by October 5, with more than 71,000 online at that moment and a reported peak above 109,000. Those figures are self-reported and haven’t been independently verified, and some users have questioned how players are counted.

A free game with that many players costs money to run. Techpoint Africa reports that Lagos Life earns revenue by renting out virtual billboards and lagoon plots to real businesses. The in-game economy itself, covering jobs, rent, bail, and property, runs on virtual naira.

Where to Play, and Why There’s No Download

Lagos Life runs in your web browser. Open lagoslife.app on a phone or computer, sign up, and play. Based on current information, there’s nothing to install, and I couldn’t find an official app. If a site offers a “Lagos Life download” or APK file, treat it as suspect.

A few things to know before you sign up:

  • Age. Fan guides report that sign-up is 18+, and one wiki notes an age rule alongside the in-game economy. Check the game’s own sign-up screen for the current rule.
  • Add an email. One guide recommends it so you can reset your password.
  • Add it to your home screen. On a phone, you can save the game like an app from your browser menu.
  • Use the right link. Several unofficial wikis and guide sites exist, and none of them are the game. Fan sites like Lagos Life Wiki say they aren’t affiliated with the developer.

How to Play Lagos Life: Your First Day

  1. Sign up at lagoslife.app and create your account.
  2. Roll your birth. The game assigns you a Nepo Baby or LAPO Baby start (more below).
  3. Build your Sim. Pick your look and traits. Traits change how fast skills grow and how quickly your needs drain.
  4. Pick a home. LAPO starts choose between Mushin and Yaba, and some guides mention a UNILAG hall of residence as a third option.
  5. Get a job from your in-game phone. For most players it starts the next day.
  6. Complete the starter goals. These pay small amounts for basics like eating, freshening up, and working a shift, and one guide puts the full set at ₦11,000, which matters on a LAPO start.
  7. Keep your needs up. Your Sim has six: hunger, energy, fun, social, hygiene, and bladder. Low needs hurt mood, and mood affects work performance.
  8. Have rent ready before Saturday. More on this below.

Nepo Baby vs LAPO Baby

Your starting class is rolled at the end of character creation and stays with the account, according to current guides.

Nepo BabyLAPO Baby
Starting cash₦500,000 pocket money₦60,000 loan on top of your home’s starting money
DebtNoneOwe ₦72,000, repaid at ₦12,000 a week for 6 weeks
HomeFurnished Lekki Phase 1 flat, rent paid by “Daddy”Mushin or Yaba, and you pay the rent
TransportA carNo car at first
JobBanking job from day oneApply from your phone
PerkStarts with higher CharismaHustle starts at 2, and skills grow 25% faster

Nepo Baby is the easier start. LAPO Baby’s skill-speed bonus is the one perk that lasts the whole account, but you have to clear the loan first. Whichever you get, the six-week LAPO repayment is a fixed cost, so budget for it.

Lagos Life Jobs

You apply for jobs from your in-game phone. Going to work costs a small fee, and a shift takes about one real hour. Jobs are tied to places on the map, and fan guides list careers including Banking, Trading, Tech, Music, DJ, Chef, Teaching, Nursing, Retail, Hairstyling, Football, Fitness Coach, Event Planning, Content Creator, and Law.

I’m not printing a salary table, and here’s why: fan guides currently disagree. One counts 14 jobs, another counts 21 careers with five levels each, and entry-level pay for the same job differs between sites. That fits a game that’s only days old. Check the pay shown on your in-game phone before you choose.

Two things are consistent across guides:

  • Promotions raise pay a lot. Skills gate promotions, so train the skill your career uses.
  • Side gigs fill gaps. You can pick up work like helping at the buka (a local food spot) or carrying loads at Balogun Market while you wait on a better job.

The Lagos Life Map

The city is built from real Lagos areas and landmarks. One fan wiki lists 21 places and another lists 28, so the map appears to still be growing. Here are the places named in the current guides, grouped by area:

AreaPlaces
SurulereAmala Shitta, Oga Sunday Viewing Centre, Mama Bisi’s Salon
YabaCcHub
IkejaNew Afrika Shrine, General Hospital, Naija Radio House, House of Grace Chapel
Lagos IslandBalogun Market, Freedom Park, Polling Unit 001, Lagos Central Mosque, Eko Police Division
Victoria IslandQuilox, The Library, Ivory Rooftop, Marina Towers
Ikoyii-Fitness
LekkiElegushi Beach, Lekki Conservation Centre, The Palms

Most places stay open around the clock. Based on one fan wiki, Quilox runs 10 PM to 5 AM, The Library 10 PM to 4 AM, and CcHub 8 AM to 11 PM, all on Lagos time.

Time Zones: A Tip for US Players

The game clock follows real Lagos time, so shifts, rent day, and opening hours match the actual clock in Nigeria. Lagos is on West Africa Time (UTC+1) and doesn’t change for daylight saving.

Rent comes out on Saturday morning, starting from 9 AM, according to current guides. Here’s what that means in the US:

Lagos timeEasternPacific
Saturday 9 AM (through Oct 31)4 AM1 AM
Saturday 9 AM (from Nov 1)3 AM12 AM (midnight)

In practice, that means rent lands in the early hours of Saturday for most US players. Make sure the money is in your account before you go to bed on Friday.

Mistakes to Avoid

Missing rent. Fall more than two weeks behind and you get a Quit Notice, according to one guide. LAPO Babies also need ₦12,000 set aside for the weekly loan payment.

Trusting old numbers. Pay, prices, and features are shifting. Guides marked “last checked” on October 4 may already be out of date.

Mixing it up with copycats. Lagos Run is a separate danfo-driving game. PH Lifestyle (set in Port Harcourt) and Road to Number One are separate games that appeared after Lagos Life. They aren’t the same game.

Buying the token. A crypto token called $LAGOSLIFE exists, launched by an unrelated account. The developer hasn’t presented it as an official product.

Expecting real money. The in-game naira can’t be cashed out. Lagos Life Wiki says the game doesn’t pay withdrawable real money, and Techpoint reports that none of the economy involves real money yet.

One more caution: an X trending summary from October 4 said exploited balances were being wiped and income tax was being added. Techpoint doesn’t mention that, so treat it as unconfirmed. Either way, expect your progress to be subject to change.

Conclusion

Lagos Life is a free browser life sim that you play at lagoslife.app. Sign up, see whether you get a Nepo or LAPO start, get a job, and keep Saturday’s rent covered. It has no download, and it’s changing quickly, so check the in-game phone for current pay instead of relying on a fan guide’s figures.
