Perdition Update 1.1.0 Guide – Maldhalla Levels 1 to 9, Unlock, Boss Changes and Skill Auto-Cast

The Perdition Update 1.1.0 is a major patch for Maldhalla, a survival roguelite. It adds a new difficulty called Perdition, with nine levels that stack extra rules and raise your score and soul multiplier from x1.2 to x3.0. To unlock it on a map, beat that map’s 30:00 final boss, and then pick a level from 1 to 9 in the expedition hall. The update also adds Skill Auto-Cast, which you turn on by right-clicking a skill button. Note that the “level 30” in some searches refers to the 30:00 boss timer, not a level number.

What the Perdition Update Is

Maldhalla Update 1.1.0: The Perdition Update, featuring a hooded warrior facing demonic enemies on a fiery battlefield, with details of the new Perdition difficulty, 21 characters, 32 weapons, relics, and patch updates.

Maldhalla is a survival roguelite where you outlast endless hordes and face a new boss every three minutes. The Steam page lists 21 characters, 32 weapons and relics that trigger from weapon combos.

The developer calls update 1.1.0 The Perdition Update, because its headline feature is the new Perdition difficulty. Search results sometimes treat Perdition as its own game, but there are other games with that name, so make sure you look for Maldhalla.

The update came out on October 18, 2026. Hotfix 1.0.4 arrived a day earlier, and patch 1.1.1 followed with two fixes: walking bosses no longer pass through walls in one more case, and the Build screen no longer shows stuck unlock progress while an earlier step is incomplete.

How to Unlock Perdition Difficulty

The unlock is simple, but the wording trips people up. Here is how it works:

  1. Reach the final boss. Each map has a final boss at the 30:00 mark.
  2. Beat it. Defeating the 30:00 boss opens Perdition on that map.
  3. Go to the expedition hall. Choose a Perdition level from 1 to 9 there.
  4. Repeat on other maps. The unlock applies per map, so you must beat each map’s boss.

So “Perdition level 30 boss” is really the 30:00 final boss. The patch notes do not say you need to reach level 30 as a character.

Character select also shows the highest Perdition level each character has cleared. The details screen lists your best level on each map, so you can track your progress.

For another roguelike where a patch reshaped the whole loop, see our He is Coming Patch 16 guide, which covers item changes and a new Gauntlet mechanic.

Perdition Levels 1 to 9: Every Modifier

Each Perdition level keeps all the rules of the levels below it. As a result, level 9 is a pile of all nine modifiers at once. Here is the full list:

LevelNameWhat it does
1Elites’ TollElites appear more often, and opening an elite chest makes you take more damage for a while
2Rough StartEnemies are stronger for the first 12 minutes, and elites carry a ward, split or venom trait
3Greedy PackGreedy Mimics come three at a time from different directions
4Shrine RaidStarting a shrine capture draws enemies onto the shrine, with more of them later in the run
5Stubborn ShrinesShrines take 1.5 times as long to capture
6Cursed ChoiceOnly 2 Refreshes and 2 Removes per run, plus a Cursed Gem that raises your Damage and EXP Gain but makes enemies stronger
7Sinking MudEvery hit chips away at your Max HP, and killing a boss gives it back
8Guarded BossesBosses bring out their next pattern early and arrive with 2 elite guards
9GauntletAfter the final boss, a late boss returns for one more fight, and every boss uses its whole kit from the start

The score and soul multiplier rises with each level, from x1.2 at level 1 to x3.0 at level 9. The notes list only the two endpoints, so I cannot give you the middle values.

Tips for climbing the levels

These tips are my suggestions based on the modifiers:

  • Plan your Refreshes and Removes early. From level 6, you only get two of each.
  • Take the Cursed Gem only when your build is strong. It boosts your damage, but it also strengthens enemies.
  • Kill bosses to recover Max HP. At level 7, a boss kill gives back what hits take.
  • Clear shrines carefully. Levels 4 and 5 make shrines riskier and slower.
  • Save your best build for level 9. Every boss uses its full kit from the start.

Boss Mechanics and Elite Guards

Level 8 adds the elite guards. Bosses bring out their next pattern early and arrive with two elite guards, so you face adds from the first second. Level 9 then adds a returning late boss.

Update 1.1.0 also changed how bosses behave in every difficulty:

  • No more walking through walls. Bosses go around to reach you, and their dashes stop at the wall.
  • Smarter chasing. Walking bosses speed up while a wall hides you, and they cut through a wall only briefly if their path stays fully blocked for a few seconds.
  • Flying and special bosses. The Grave Revenant and the Beholder fly over walls. The Vampire Count, Bone Dragon, Leech and Warden cross them with their own moves.
  • Warden changes. He passes a sentence when his phase changes and in his last phase, and you must step on a pardon within 4 seconds or be executed.
  • Less burst damage. The Warden’s first execution and the Bone Dragon’s first cataclysm no longer kill you outright. They take 70% of your Max HP instead.
  • Capped enemies in boss arenas. Each boss fight limits regular enemies inside the boss area, and new ones appear outside it when it is full.
  • Tougher early bosses. The 3:00, 9:00 and 12:00 bosses have higher Max HP, while boss fights before 15:00 bring fewer regular enemies.

The patch also fixes a player getting stuck between a wall and the edge of a boss arena.

How to Enable Skill Auto-Cast

Skill Auto-Cast is a new feature in 1.1.0. Here is how to use it:

  1. Find your skill button in a run.
  2. Right-click the button.
  3. The skill now casts itself whenever it is ready.

The notes describe it as a per-skill setting, so you choose which skills fire on their own. The notes do not say how to turn it off, but right-clicking again is the likely toggle, and I have not verified it.

Auto select also got separate switches for level-ups, chests and shrines, and the C key toggles Auto Level-Up Selection.

Rewards, Souls and Progression Changes

Several changes affect how you earn and spend rewards:

ChangeDetails
Endless ModeStarts at 30:00 instead of 15:00
SoulsNow based on survival time, not score
Stat pointsAll 25 cost 410 souls instead of 450, with a one-time refund if you paid more
Paid chestsNo longer get much pricier late in a run
Legendary blessingsIf none are left, you get one from the grade below
BenchmarkShows a CPU Score, and finishing it gives 10 souls once a day
New challenges1.5x Speed and 2x Speed

New saves also start without challenges. A run’s challenges carry over only after five finished runs.

Enemy, Character and Map Changes

  • Fewer enemies. The cap on enemies at once drops from 3,000 to 2,000.
  • Ranged enemies. At most two regular ranged enemies come at a time.
  • Shrines. A shrine that returns after its rest rolls its grade again.
  • Hunter. Sniper base Pierce rises from 0 to 1.
  • Paladin. Skill Enhancements ‘Anchor +2’ and ‘Tempest +5’ now work as described.
  • Death Knight. ‘Contagion +3’ now works as described.
  • Assassin. Shadow Strike no longer stalls in big crowds or among many walls.

Quality of Life and New Features

  • A tutorial for new players.
  • Replays: you can keep up to 50 starred replays, and your device now stores 100 runs, up from 20.
  • Hit sounds, adjustable under Settings, then Audio.
  • A Screen Fit option in Display settings, so non-16:9 screens avoid black bars.
  • Esc during a level-up opens the pause menu.
  • Mouse back button support for menus, and side mouse buttons for key binds.
  • Saving and buying after a run no longer wait on the server.

Common Mistakes

  • Looking for a level 30 requirement. The unlock is the 30:00 final boss.
  • Expecting Perdition on every map right away. You unlock it per map.
  • Ignoring Cursed Gem risks. It strengthens enemies.
  • Searching for the wrong game. Other games share the name Perdition.
  • Skipping the tutorial. New players get one in 1.1.0.

Conclusion

The Perdition Update gives Maldhalla a nine-step difficulty ladder, tougher and fairer bosses and a handy Skill Auto-Cast. Beat a map’s 30:00 final boss to start, and build toward the level 9 Gauntlet. Everything here is accurate as of October 20, 2026, and the developer may patch again soon.
