In Warframe, you get Moonflesh by killing Infested enemies on Eris and by completing Operation Alerts there, and you can only do it during Epoch Operation: Taubound, which runs from October 15 to November 17, 2026. Infested enemies have a 2% chance to drop 2 Moonflesh, or 3 on the Steel Path, and each Alert pays 50, or 75 on the Steel Path. The wiki names the Dark Sector Survival node Zabala as the most popular farm. However, Nekros’s Desecrate and resource boosters do not affect Moonflesh, so kills per minute decide your speed.

What Moonflesh is
Moonflesh is the fuel resource for Epoch Operation: Taubound, a one-time community event that opens a path to the Tau System. Digital Extremes added it with Hotfix 44.1.2 on October 15, 2026. You cannot sell it or trade it, and you spend it on rewards from the Sentient Mothership Praghasa.
To reach Eris during the event, you only need to have finished Vor’s Prize. Digital Extremes lifted the normal Star Chart and Junction requirements. You also do not need The Hex or The Old Peace to harvest Moonflesh, because those quests only gate the separate Tau Prologue.
Where to find Moonflesh
Every source agrees on the main location: Eris. Open Navigation, choose Eris, and run any Infested mission. The patch notes also say that completing missions on Eris gives fixed amounts of Moonflesh, though they do not list the amounts.
Here are your three routes:
| Source | What you get | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Infested kills on Eris | 2% chance of 2 Moonflesh, or 3 on the Steel Path | Maggots do not drop it |
| Operation Alerts on Eris | 50 Moonflesh, or 75 on the Steel Path | Plus drops from the Infested inside |
| Mission completion on Eris | Fixed amounts | The amounts are unpublished |
Alerts use only four mission types: Exterminate, Hive, Mobile Defense and Survival. You can complete each Alert once while it is active, on either Normal or Steel Path.
Timing varies by source. The wiki says an Alert appears every 30 minutes and stays up for 90 minutes. Another guide says every 45 to 60 minutes. Either way, they overlap, so a break often leaves several waiting.
One small bonus helps groups. When any squad member picks up a Moonflesh drop, everyone in the squad receives it, even if they are far away.
The best Moonflesh farm

Because boosters do nothing, your farming speed equals your squad’s kills per minute. So pick a mode with endless, fast-spawning enemies.
Zabala (Survival). The wiki calls this Dark Sector Survival the most popular farm. The Dark Sector’s resource drop bonus does not help Moonflesh, but it does help you collect Plastids and Mutagen Samples while you farm. It also rewards a guaranteed Neo Void Relic on rotation B.
Operation Alerts first. Treat them as your priority. A Steel Path Alert pays 75 Moonflesh, and the wiki says you can usually finish one in about 5 minutes or less. The Infested inside also drop extra Moonflesh.
Use the Steel Path. It spawns more enemies and raises each drop from 2 to 3, so it improves both rates at once.
The wiki estimates that 100 to 150 kills per minute yields about 6 to 9 Moonflesh per minute. I could not verify the Nimis node, so I do not recommend it over Zabala.
Does Nekros’s Desecrate work on Moonflesh?
No. The wiki states that looting abilities of any type, including Desecrate, Ore Gaze and Pilfering Strangledome, do not change the drop chance or the drop rate. Resource boosters and Resourceful Retriever do not multiply the amount either. Another guide agrees that the drop rate ignores drop boosters.
That means Nekros brings no special advantage here. Bring whichever Warframe clears Infested fastest.
Praghasa and the shop
Praghasa waits at a special node on Eris. Guides place it on the bottom-left side of the Eris map. Enter the Relay, walk to the interface at the front of the ship, and choose the option to provide Moonflesh.
Here are the notable prices from the wiki:
| Reward | Moonflesh | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Legendary Core | 500 | 1 |
| Dhampyre Syandana | 500 | 1 |
| Tauforged Archon Shards (Crimson, Azure, Amber) | 375 each | 1 each |
| Vacis Amp Skin | 375 | 1 |
| Khadati Sumdali | 250 | 1 |
| Contegorus armor pieces | 175 each | 1 each |
| Haalvu and Spectra Vandal | 150 each | 1 each |
| Arcanes | 5 to 8 each | 42 each |
| 100 Endo | 1 | 300 |
| 10,000 Credits | 3 | 100 |
| 2,000 Kuva | 20 | 25 |
The official announcement lists every reward, including the Contegorus Armor Set, the Vacis Amp Skin, a Legendary Core and a new Honoria.
The wiki adds up the totals:
| Goal | Moonflesh needed |
|---|---|
| All event-exclusive items from this event | 2,575 |
| All event-exclusive items, including returning ones | 4,175 |
| Everything in the shop, with all arcane copies | 10,494 |
How much farming is realistic?
Use the wiki’s numbers to plan. The event-exclusive total of 4,175 equals 56 Steel Path Alerts, not counting drops inside them. At about 5 minutes each, that is roughly 4.7 hours of Alerts alone, and that estimate is my own arithmetic from the wiki’s figures.
If you start on October 24, you have 24 days left. A steady 175 Moonflesh a day would cover the 4,175 total, which equals about two to three Steel Path Alerts a day.
| Priority | Why |
|---|---|
| Legendary Core (500) | Valuable and limited to one |
| Tauforged Archon Shards (375 each) | One of each |
| Event-only cosmetics | They never return |
| Arcanes (5 to 8 each) | Cheap, with high limits |
Tips and common mistakes
Do not bring loot boosters. They have no effect on Moonflesh.
Do not skip Alerts. They pay a flat amount that does not depend on luck.
Do not wait for the last week. The event ends November 17, and Praghasa and her rewards do not return.
Do not assume the shop restocks. Most items have a limit of one.
Do not forget the quest requirement. You need Vor’s Prize finished to enter Eris.
If you also like co-op looter shooters, our Risk of Rain 2 Enforcer guide covers another recent update with a new character and unlock steps.
What could change
Digital Extremes can adjust drop rates, Alert timing or the shop in a hotfix. Everything here is accurate as of October 24, 2026, based on the official announcement and the Warframe wiki, which says its farming tips reflect opinion. Check your in-game Alerts and shop for current values.
Conclusion
Farm Moonflesh on Eris by running Operation Alerts first, then Zabala’s Survival on the Steel Path between them. Skip Desecrate and boosters, because they do nothing here. Spend your Moonflesh at Praghasa before November 17, and put the Legendary Core and the Archon Shards first.
